It is highly recommended for a client to understand the structure of a steel building and the functions of its basic elements before a purchase is made. One of the steel building features is the backbone consisting of steel frames, which are usually made either from welded beams or LSGF. Each frame consists of straight or tapered columns and rafters (or trusses) Secondary framing is mounted on beams and columns. The area between two frames is called the bay spacing (it might vary from 3 to 12 meters) The framing joints are usually rigid.
STEEL STRUCTURE PRODUCTION
The I-beam production includes the typical following major stages: metal cleaning, metal sheets cutting, mounting and automation welding with flux material with its following recovery from shrinkage distortion/camber, cleaning and painting. Rigid steel structures are covered with priming (2 layers of up to 80 micron thick or greater) to avoid rust and to protect the structures during transportation and a steel building mounting. In turn, LSGF is obtained by cold-formed profiling (zinc-coated elements).
LOAD-BEARING CAPACITY
A steel building lateral stability is determined by rigidness of the main steel framing. Framings longitudinal stability is determined by a secondary framing (cold-formed profiles), horizontal ready-to-use insulated sandwich panels (density - up to 120 kg/cub.m., the thickness of corrugated profiles sheeting - 0.5мм) and the network of horizontal and vertical bridging (steel rods) Separate parts of a steel building can be assembled with high-strength bolts (100% bolt-together design).
ADVANTAGES:
The pre-fabricated steel buildings are 20-30% cheaper than that of wood and concrete and their insurance cost is 10-20% lower that the wood ones. These buildings have the certain advantages:
- high degree of rigidness, reliability and safety;
- high degree of protection from any deformations or cracking;
- steel framings are better to use in severe climate conditions (snowstorms, hurricanes, rainstorms) and they also have the higher aseismic safety;
- steel buildings are fully protected from fire, vermin (white ants etc.) and mould.
Steel buildings are much faster to erect compared to that of buildings made of traditional materials (bricks, concrete, wood, foam concrete blocks, etc.) All building parts and structures are preliminary marked on the production site and later on are delivered on site along with the erection architectural drawings and the column grid. Also, a client is free to design his individual steel buildings creatively choosing the certain architectural styles and any dimensions (with the setback of up to 10cm) The color palette includes a great number of free colors from RAL catalogue. Factory-located framed openings can be made of any size for doors, gates and windows in any part of a steel building including both sidewalls and endwall sides.
MANUFACTURING:
PK VESTA is actively using «Flexible approach» concept on global construction markets, i.e. a combination of modern production methods and newest IT technologies to increase efficiency of manufacturing small and mediumsized custom pre-engineered steel buildings (up to 1 500 м2) for international clients. The whole production process is closely related to the free online platform WebSteel, which highly facilities the process of making shop and architectural drawings.
